Computer gaming is fun, but it can also strain the eyes — especially if you play for hours on end. Take note that computer images are simply hundreds of tiny dots in your computer. This means that your eyes cannot focus on something distinctive. You may argue that you can see things sharply enough, but know that in order for you to view computer images clearly, your eyes have to focus and refocus constantly. After two hours of this, your vision is already very strained and that is why you get that gritty and dry feeling in your eyes. Therefore, for your continuous enjoyment of gaming well into the future, you must ensure that you keep your visual organs healthy.
Here are some optical wellness tips you should follow. First, keep below eye level the top of your monitor. When you look straight ahead of you, you should be able to peek at what is behind the computer screen. The reason behind this is that the eyes can focus better if looking slightly downward. Next, make sure the PC screen is at least 20 to 24 inches away from your eyes. You should blink constantly as well. Additionally, when you play computer games, do it in a room with appropriate lighting. If you are constantly viewing dark images against a light background, room lighting should be brighter. Do not forget to take eye breaks every 20 minutes and look at various distant objects in the room. If your eyes become really tired, use drops to soothe them. All these things can really combat eye muscle fatigue so do practice them.
